About NTAB

Who we are

NTAB (National Trust Association Belgium), is an officially affiliated Supporter Group of the National Trust of England, Wales & Northern Ireland (NT), founded in 1997. It is a volunteer-run association of National Trust enthusiasts living in Belgium.

Our mission is twofold: to promote the work of the National Trust and to enhance the membership experience of the Trust for those based in Belgium through a variety of social and cultural activities.

What we do

Each year, usually in June, we organize a multi-day trip to visit NT properties in a particular region of the United Kingdom – a wonderful opportunity to explore Britain’s rich heritage in the company of fellow members.

Closer to home, we also arrange regular outings to fascinating sites across Belgium, all guided in both English and the local language (Dutch or French). These excursions are designed to deepen appreciation for Belgium’s historical and artistic heritage while offering friendly opportunities to connect with other members.

To ensure an enriching experience, NTAB often invites expert guides, lecturers or specialists to accompany our visits, adding unique insight and value to every event.

Supporting the National Trust

Any surplus funds raised through our activities are donated directly to the National Trust, supporting specific conservation projects chosen by our members. It’s a rewarding way to give back — helping protect the places we all cherish.

The National Trust is internationally recognized as a leading organization in heritage conservation, setting the global standard in preserving historic places, beautiful landscapes and cultural treasures for generations to come.

We are a group of about 150 people including Britons and several other nationalities but the majority is Belgian. Most of us live in Belgium – anywhere from Ostend to Arlon – but some members live in the Netherlands and others in Luxembourg.

We have no regular meeting place but once a year we come together in the spring for our Annual General Meeting. Our traditional end-of-year reception generally takes place in Brussels. For other events we meet at the venue.

All our events are listed on our website. (click here)

Our Association is steered by an enthusiastic Committee of volunteers, who will be pleased to answer any questions you have.

Join Us!

Whether you’re a current member of the National Trust in the UK or simply share a passion for heritage, you’re warmly welcome to join NTAB. Even if you’re not (yet) a National Trust member, you can become an associate member and take part in our events.

Come along — explore, learn, and share the spirit of the National Trust with us!
