The Land of the Painter David Teniers

We start with a visit of the castle of “Ter Ham”, built between 1490 and 1505 by Philippe Hinckaert, a “maitre d’hotel” of Philippe the Handsome, Duke of Burgundy. The last Lord, Marquis Jean de Croix, let it to its most illustrious tenant: the last Austrian Empress Zita von Habsburg, who lived here in exile until 1940.

Subsequently, we take a short ride to the picturesque village of Humelgem. The Saint Catherine church (partially 10th century) as well as several houses around were built in the locally quarried sandstone.

For the AGM we drive to the centre of Perk where the meeting will be held in”de Camme”, a former community brewery built in 1652.
Lunch will be served in “Hof ten As”, a former square built farmstead of the Brabant region (Perksesteenweg 37,1820 Melsbroek).

After lunch a short drive brings us back to the village of Perk where the Flemish painter David Teniers lived for more than 30 years in the “De Dry Torens” Manor (The Three Turrets), now almost completely gone.
Here we visit the Estate of Perk where the guides will take us for a walk in the park, a visit to the icehouse and provide an explanation of the castle. Teniers immortalized Perk and its surroundings in paintings to be found in museums all over the world.
The event finishes at 5 p.m.

From Antwerp follow E19 and take Exit 12 Brucargo up to Steenokkerzeel.
Or take exit 11 Zemst and then left in direction of Waterloo and follow N227 via Perk to Steenokkezeel.
From Brussels follow Ring and take Exit12 Brucargo to Steenokkezeel. Coming from E40 take exit 21 direction N227 via Nossegem to Steenokkezeel. At roundabout take Exit "Steenokkerzeel centrum'.
