Gors-Opleeuw and Vliermaal

Preliminary day programme:

9.45 am: Arrival at the village of Gors-Opleeuw (Borgloon) – coffee or tea at De Pastorie, Martinusstraat 34.

10.15 am: visit of the totally renovated castle of Gors-Opleeuw (privately owned – not open to the public – the owner shows us around).

Lunch at De Pastorie Bistro.

De Pastorie, the castle of Gors-Opleeuw and the winery Clos d’Opleeuw are within walking distance. De Pastorie is a social project for disabled people, managed by ‘De Wroeter’ in Kortessem.

2 pm: visit of a winery, one of these two: Clos d’Opleeuw  or Domein Scorpion in Vliermaal (still to be decided). Both wineries got several awards as best Belgian wines in their catagory.

3.30 pm: short tour by car through the blossoms of Haspengouw (Gors op Leeuw, Jesseren, Zammelen and Vliermaal). The blossoms are at their best at that time of the year.

Stop at a strawberry plantation (15 minutes) (we actually drive through the plantation). It is possible to buy fresh local strawberries during the visit.

4 pm: visit of the Clos Saint Denis, an historic castle in Kortessem (Vliermaal), which used to be a Michelin star restaurant and is now a B&B and a mariage location.

5 pm: end of visit.

The maximum distance between the properties is 3 kilometers.

All the locations have parking lots.
